Pot Odds

The price you're being offered to call, expressed as the equity you need to break even.

Formula: pot odds % = call / (pot + call). If the pot is 100 and your opponent bets 50, you call 50 into a pot of 200 — pot odds = 25%. You need 25% equity for the call to break even.

Pot odds is the second of the two numbers (with equity) that decide every "should I call?" moment. Equity ≥ pot odds → call. Equity < pot odds → fold (unless you have implied odds — see below).

In live games, calculate pot odds out loud in your head every hand. Within a few hundred hands it becomes automatic — and your win rate climbs without learning a single new "play".
